  • Judge Accepts Consent Decree
    U.S. District Court Judge Terrence Boyle ruled Wednesday, April 30, to accept the proposed consent decree that sets restrictions on access and beach driving on the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The consent decree had been proposed to Judge Boyle by attorneys on both sides of the issue as a compromise solution among those who wanted beach access preserved for recreational use and those who wanted access banned in order to preserve and protect wildlife.
  • Beach driving plan approved for Cape Hatteras National Seashore
    On Wednesday in Raleigh, U.S. District Court Judge Terrence Boyle approved the proposed beach driving agreement between the Audubon Society and the Defenders of Wildlife, represented by the Southern Environmental Law Center, and the National Park Service.
  • Head-on leaves one dead
    A head-on collision west of the Pirates Cove entrance claimed the life of one and injured two others early Saturday morning.
